Canadian Casanova

Hey, I am Tyler Sheppard, I am just a 17 year old gay teenager trying to figure everything out. I live in Alabama, but moved here from Canada on December 26, 2010. I try to look at all the positives in life and all the wonderful things that are around me but much too often I find myself looking directly at the negatives. Photography is something I love. I love the feeling of the camera strap around the back of my neck, playing with the lens, pushing the capture button, hearing the shutter close and re-open, and looking at my finished product. I may not be the best at it but it’s something I love and that’s all that matters, right? Only having a small group of people at my current high school who know I am homosexual makes it extremely hard. Often find myself losing out on friend ships and even the pursuit of happiness, because I don’t allow myself to make friends, thinking that once they know I am gay that their beliefs and their ideas will change the way they see me. Also living in an area of the world that has beliefs and ideas that are so different to my own, makes me see what the LGBT community fought so hard for back home and what we still fight for every day around the world and gave me a new perspective and a whole new level of respect for equality. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// May the odds be EVER in your favor.
